PAOK resolves differences with Pantelis Kafes
Posted: January 28, 2003 at 10:54 AM EST (15:54 PM GMT)

The differences between Pantelis Kafes and PAE PAOK have been resolved. Kafes, who filed an appeal with EPAE to become a free agent has withdrawn his request.

PAE PAOK has deposited 100,000 Euro in the player"s account, and the player"s manager and PAOK owner Georgios Batatoudis have agreed on a payment schedule as far as the rest of the money is concerned. It should be noted that Kafes filed his appeal in order to collect 317,000 Euro that PAOK owes him. He was the second PAOK player following Georgiadis to pursue similar action.

In other news, PAOK players are trying to put behind the loss to Panathinaikos (0-1). Aggelos Anastasiadis has shown his disappointment with the many errors that his players committed in the game in Athens, but right now he wants to look ahead to the next game. Anastasiadis has been quoted as saying: "… there are still many games left. We need to focus on achieving our goals."

On Monday, Janury 27, the players had a light practice session at the Nea Efkarpia facilities ahead of the difficult game against Xanthi. The practice sessions in the next few days will take place without the team"s international players who travel to Cyprus for the Cyprus – Greece game. Giannakis Okkas, Giasemakis Giasemis and Giotis Ekgomitis already left for Cyprus to join their respective national team. Georgios Georgiadis and Pantelis Kafes will join the Greek national team for the upcoming game. All the players will return to PAOK on Thursday, January 30.

In the meantime Anastasiadis will work with the players who are left in Thessaloniki. PAOK will try to secure the three points from the game with Xanthi in order to keep pace with Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, hoping that those two teams lose points in the next round of the championship. Pllayers who will not be able to play in the game with Xanthi are Dionisis Hasiotis and Giasemakis Giasems, who have reached the 3-yellow card limit. Anastasiadis will have Theodoridis and Kapagiannidis, who have joined the team recently available to include them in the team"s roster.
